There has only ever been ONE inaugural Mountain Biking World Championships. It took place in 1990 in Durango, Colorado, where hometown boy, Ned Overend, won the Men's Cross Country showdown against fierce contenders from around the world, including Tim Gould of England and Thomas Frischknecht of Switzerland. Juli Furtado, also of Colorado, won the Women's Cross Country. This would be the first and last time that American mountain bikers would take home the gold. All the action of the day was captured on multiple cameras by award-winning broadcast videographers including my husband, Mark Schulze, who, wearing a helmet cam he had devised, followed Ned Overend on his trial run the day before the race. There's lots of history - and herstory! - to enjoy in this power-packed video, now available on television for the first time ever. - Patty Mooney
